Canvasations' May show, "Conversations in Color"

Conversation in Color exhibition is showcasing works by a dozen of the Eastern European contemporary artists. I have four of my newest sculptures on display there from the series Look What I Got, Doctor! The opening reception for Canvasations' May show, was on Saturday, May 3rd in San Francisco's Rozanoff Art gallery, at 355 29th Street (between Church and Sanchez). Show runs May 5 - May 31. Gallery Hours: Mon - Fri 12 pm - 7 pm; Sat, Sun by appointment.

Angels and Birds

Some people believe birds are messengers of divine guidance; they believe birds, like traditional angels, relay messages of wisdom and advice at times when we most need direction. Unlike traditional angels, each bird brings its own specific message. -- Matt McKinley.

Angels and Birds is a group exhibition in which I also participate. It runs from April 2 to May 14, 2008. Reception: Tuesday, April 22 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hotel Triton's Mezzanine Gallery, 342 Grant Avenue, San Francisco.

What Goes Around

Four-cast

Art reflects on the current issues affecting society and anticipates the emergence of a global culture. What Goes Around was selected to be in the programming for the 2008 San Francisco International Arts Festival. The exhibit is a juried group show where out of more than 300 applicants only 30 artists were selected. The participants are international and Bay Area artists. This show will include several of my large architectural sculptures.

Opening reception is on Thursday, May 1, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the ARTworkSF Gallery, 49 Geary, San Francisco. Everybody is invited!

Spring Open Studios 2008

I believe in the phrase of Dostoevsky: "Beauty will save the world." Through my art, I communicate ideas about beauty on many levels, including mythological, philosophical, and emotional. I also believe that we seek personal authenticity and grace in life, and we surround ourselves with objects that share these qualities.

Dear friends! Please mark your calendars! I would like to invite you to my studio during the upcoming Spring Open Studios on Saturday April 26 and Sunday April 27, from 11am to 6pm. It will take place at 2150 Folsom Street (between 17th and 18th St) in San Francisco and my studio is number 12. There is also going to be a show of the artists participating in this event in our downstairs gallery. It will be curated by famous curator Matt McKinley. Hope to see you there!

Ceramic Sculpture Workshop: Adventures in Clay

Workshop

I am teaching another workshop Adventures in Clay on Sat Jan 5 and Sat Jan 12 (11am � 5pm) at the Workspace, 2150 Folsom Street @18th in San Francisco's Mission District. New and returning all levels students are welcome!

This workshop is suited for people either new to ceramic sculpture or looking to improve their ceramic skills. The course is centered on fundamental principles of clay sculpting. Whenever you feel comfortable is where we begin. All subject matter � whether "traditional" or "your own" - is acceptable. Bring an idea to start with or we'll create one that suits you. Teapots, masks, busts, reliefs, animals, abstractions, buildings and everything in between. All sculptures will be glazed and fired as needed.

Recently I participated in the group show East Meets West: Eastern influence on Western art and culture, where artists explore how the art and culture of the east has blended with the art and culture of the western world through treatment of subject matter, material choice and color scheme.

The exhibition ran from November 1 to December 3, 2007 at 49 Geary St. Suite 234, San Francisco, CA with the opening reception on Thursday, November 1, 5:30pm � 7:30pm.

The Fall 2007 Open Studios are here! The Workspace has open studios on Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21. The Preview Party, aka the Artist's Ball, is on October 12, with the Cottontails playing the show.

Russian Seasons in Minnesota

The 7th annual Russian Seasons in Minnesota festival is a great opportunity to become acquainted with and celebrate Russian culture. There is an eclectic mix of Russian music and dance, ranging from folk to classical. Come early to enjoy the tasty authentic Russian food and tea, and admire the displayed works of art.

Both Vladimir's paintings and my sculptures are going to be exhibited at this event.
